On Wedding Photos and Sunscreen

A picture says a thousand words and your wedding photos tell a beautiful story. These photos will last a lifetime and one day you will look at them and remember the day you said “I do.” Would you rather see your beautiful younger selves or people in wedding garb, sporting sun burnt skin? It’s been known to happen and not just here in Vegas. While it may be tempting to relax by one of the famed mega-pools, it may be wise to stay out of the sun and the pool before the wedding photos are taken to prevent sun burn. It may be nice to look beautifully tanned on your wedding dress, but burnt orange and glowing red may not be the most flattering bridal look.

If you want to look your best for your wedding photos, here are a few tips to keep in mind.

  1. Wear sunscreen. It is a good advice that you can apply before having your wedding photos taken as well as in life. Sunscreen protects your skin from getting burned, it reduces blotchiness, redness, fine lines and skin discolorations. Most importantly a strong SPF repels harsh UV rays that can cause skin cancer.
  2. Tan Safely. The days approaching your wedding is not exactly the best time to sunbathe. Not only do you risk sunburn, there’s a pretty big chance you don’t tan evenly and that shows in the photos. If you must tan, go to a tanning salon that offers air bush. Remember the goal is to look sun-kissed, not sunburned.
  3. Striking a Pose. Whether you are the bride or not, it is always a good idea to pose at your best angle. Practice in front of the mirror to perfect the look, choose a pose that flatters your figure and shows you in the best light. Remember photos are forever.
